Friends@Belmont PTA (F@B) are a small group of Belmont parents and staff who get together to organise fun events for Belmont students and their families, and to help to raise money for the school. We meet around once a month at school to plan events, discuss fundraising ideas, and have a bit of a chat. We are a very friendly bunch and new members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Sue (our Chair) on 07966 153797 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Family Funday 2018
F@B are delighted to report that the Belmont Family Funday 2018 was a great success. Despite a slightly drizzly day, the event was very well attended, and it was lovely to see so many of our students, staff, and their families and friends, lobbing loo rolls, bouncing on the bouncy castle, climbing on the fire engine, playing football, making slime, dancing with Chase and Minion – and generally having lots of fun.
And, on top of all that, we raised over £2,400 to go towards projects in both the primary and secondary schools!
F@B put a lot of time and effort into organising the event, and a huge thank you is owed in particular to the two Sues (Hunt and Newport) for their super organisational and planning skills, which made sure everything ran smoothly, and to Jan Tee who used her phenomenal powers of persuasion to secure most of the 40 plus raffle prizes, which made the raffle so popular and profitable.
F@B would also like to thank the Cheltenham Rotary Club for their invaluable help manning the BBQ and supervising carparking; the Gloucestershire Fire service for lending us a fire engine and some friendly firefighters; Mr Day for the magic and music, and for bringing his friends Chase and Minion along to the Fun Day; and all the other staff, friends and family members who helped out on the day. We couldn’t have done it without you all!
A big thank you also to the many local businesses who generously donated raffle prizes, bottles and other items for our stalls and refreshments stands, and to anyone who donated soft-toys, bric-a-brac or cakes. And special thanks to the Cheltenham Lions club who gave us a very generous donation of £200.
We all need a bit of a lie down now, but are looking forward to planning next year’s Fun Day.
Our regular Belbucks events – where we transform the portacabin into a temporary café and serve drinks and cakes to students and staff – are always very popular. This year we plan to hold a Halloween Belbucks in the autumn term (when we will have lots of fun spookifying the portacabin) and a Christmas Belbucks, complete with a Santa’s grotto and presents for the primary students.
Car Boot Sale
Last year, we had our first attempt at organising a car boot sale. This wasn’t quite as successful as we might have hoped (due to the great British weather!), but it was a learning experience and we hope to organise another one this year. We will keep you posted.
Supporting the SLT
F@B also support the school by helping the teaching staff out at events such as open days for prospective parents and sports days.
F@B are registered with the cashback site ‘easyfundraising’; which means if you buy anything online from participating retailers (which includes major supermarkets) we get a small amount of cash back for the school. All you have to do is sign on to the site (easyfundraising.org.uk) under F@B Belmont and remember to use the site whenever you shop online with any of the participating retailers.
F@B have been very pleased to welcome three new members this year, Laura Dobson, Carolyn Jones and Sophie Muir, who have already proved to be great assets to the team. However, we are very sad to say goodbye to Jane Burris, one of our founder members, whose daughter, Emma, has just left Belmont. Jane’s inspirational ideas and enthusiasm have made her an invaluable member of the team and she will be very much missed.
NEXT EVENT: Sports Day on Friday 6 June 2018, Friends@Belmont will be attending and handing out ice creams.
Thanks to staff, parents and carers and governors for their ongoing support to make our school such an outstanding one!
The school can provide a paper copy of the information on this website to parents/carers free of charge.
